Pablo Picaso

Pikaso je rodjen u Malagi, Spanija, prijatnom, tihom gradu.Njegov otac je bio slikar i likovni ucitelj koji je svom sinu davao prve lekcije u crtanju.Mladi Pikaso nije bio dobar u skoli.On je bio lijen i nije slusao sta su ucitelji govorili.On je odbijao da prihvati kritike od bilo koga.Ali uskoro je postalo ocigledno da je djecak umjetnik i da je zasluzio najbolju obuku koju je mogao dobiti.Studirao je umjetnost u nekoliko gradova u Spaniji.Ali nije bio niko da ga nauci sve sto je zelio znati.Kada je imao 19 god. posjetio je Pariz.Pariz je tda bio centar svijeta za umjetnike.Dosta slikara ode tamo prije ili kasnije da studira, da vidi slike i da se sprijatelji sa drugim slikarima.Kada je imao 23 god. Pikaso se vratio tamo da ivi i zivio je u Francuskoj do kraja svog zivota.Vec je bio dobar slikar.Slikao je scene gradskog zivota-ljude na ulicama i u restoranima, na konjskim trkama, borbama bikova i cirkusima.One su slikane svijetlim bojama, krasne za gledati.Kako je poceo da prodaje svoje slike i da postaje prepoznatljiv kao slikar, poceon je da slika sa vise i vise slobode i nezavisnosti.On je poceo da vidi ljude i mjesta u smislu jednostavne forme i oblika.On nije vise pokusao da svoje slike pravi realnijim.Neke od Pikasovih slika su bogate, njezno obojene i lijepe.Druge su ruzne i okrutne i nepoznate sa ostrom, crnom okosnicom.Ali takve slike nam dozvoljavaju da zamislimo stvari za nas.Tjeraju nas da kazemo sebi:"Sta on vidi, pa tako slika?".I mi pocinjemo da gledamo ispod povrsine stvari koje vidimo.Pikaso je naslikao hiljade slika u puno drugaciijim stilovima.Ali uglavnom. kada se misli o njemu, misli se na nacin na koji je slikao ljudsko lice i figuru, koja je i lijepa i cudna.Gertruda Stejn je napisala:"Glava, lice ljudsko tijelo, to je sve sto postoji za Pikasa.Duse ljudi ga ne zanimaju.Stvarnost zivota je u glavi. licu i u tijelu."

He was lazy and didn't listen to what the teachers were saying. He refused to accept criticism from anyone. But it was soon clear that the boy was an artist and deserved the best training he could get. He studied art in several cities in Spain. But there was no one to teach him all he wanted to know. When he was nineteen he visited Paris. Paris was then the centre of the world for artists. Most painters went there sooner or later to study, to see pictures and to make friends with other painters. When he was twenty-three Picasso returned there to live and lived in France for the rest of his life. He was already a fine painter. He painted scenes of town life - people in the streets and the restaurants, at horse races, bull fights and circuses. They were painted in bright colours, lovely to look at. As he began to sell his pictures and to become recognized as a painter, he began to paint with more and more freedom and independence. He began to see people and places in terms of simple forms and shapes. He no longer tried to make his pictures tru-to-life. Some of Picasso's paintings are rich, soft-coloured and beatiful. Others are ugly and cruel and strange with sharp, black outlines. But such paintings aloo us to imagine things for ourselves. They force us to say to ourselves: "What he see that makes him paint like that?" And we begin to look beneath the surface of the things we see. Picasso painted thousends of pictures in many different styles. But mostly, when one thinks of him, one thinks of the way he painted the human face and figure, which is bith beautiful and strange. Getrude Stein wrote: "The head, the face, the human body, these are all that exist for Picasso. The souls of people do not interest him. The reality of life is in the head, the face and the body."
